In this activity we will:

  • Compare decimal numbers using the Number Line Application

When you look at two numbers with decimals, how do you decide which one is bigger? We will use the NUMBER LINE application to help develop a method.  
Press the  key and arrow down to NUMLINE. Press  twice to get to the main menu 2: Fraction Line.  Press no alt text supplied
We want to compare 3.4 and 3.43. First we need to set the window. Set the window like the one on the right. Also arrow down and set the lower Indicator to off. no alt text supplied
Press graph to ensure that you are between 3 and 4
Now Press the  key and select 1: Draw label. Type 3.4 and press .
